SNOWSHOE TRAILS OPEN FOR HIKING
Ski trails are not skiable as we need snow. The snowshoe trails from the chalet trailhead are open for hiking. You don’t need snowshoes on them now, since they need more snow too.
TRAILS CLOSED TODAY
Due to the warm weather, we’re asking skiers and snowshoers to stay off the trails today. The base is fragile and will be difficult to repair. The grooming team is planning to meet later this afternoon as temps drop below freezing….stay tuned and do a little snow dance.
VERY GOOD SKIING TODAY, CLOSED ON WEDNESDAY
The grooming team is out this morning setting tracks and renovating the skate lane. Skiing should be Very Good Today, But we’re asking skiers to stay off the trails tomorrow when temps are forecasted for 50*. We’re trying to protect the early season base from damage. Temps should cool down with the trails reopening on Thursday.
FRIDAY TRAIL REPORT
12/11/21 – MECCA trail system received approximately seven inches of moderately moist snow over night. Groomers rolled, set track and combed skate lanes on the 21 K system. The skiing surface will remain soft for a couple of days. Overall conditions rated as good to very good.
TRACKS SET AND SKATE LANE COMBED
The major winter storm dumped 12″ on MECCA in the last 48 hours. All trails have been track set and the skate lane combed. The snowshoe trails are ungroomed and inviting.
12″ NEW SNOW PAST 36 HOURS
MECCA received 6″ powder overnight on top of the 6″ received yesterday. The trails were packed and rolled again today. The groomer is planning to set tracks and comb a skate lane early Tuesday morning. The snowshoe trails have one foot of champagne power.
Winter storm today
It started snowing at MECCA at 5am this morning and the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning with accumulations of 7-13″ by noon Monday. The trails were rolled and packed on 11/29, when the base was 2″. The grooming team will roll and pack the trails tomorrow. Stay tuned for trail updates as the groomers work on the trails. Let the games begin!
Ski TRAILS CLOSED DUE TO WARM WEATHER
The ski trails are closed to skiers and hikers due to warm weather. The snowshoe trails at the cabin trailhead are open for hikers. Please stay off the ski trails as we try to protect the fragile base. The forecast is for cooler temps and snow this weekend.
1-2″ base – we need snow
MECCA Trails were rolled today and the trails are marginally skiable. If you need to come out, use your rock skis as the base is extremely thin, with numerous bare spots. Trails won’t be groomed again until we get at least 4″ of new snow and unfortunately there’s nothing on the forecast. We know that snow will come, so stay tuned!
Another dusting
MECCA TRAILS got 2 inches of snow over the weekend, but that’s all we have. There’s a little snow in the forecast but we’ll need to get a good storm before we can groom.
It’s also gun deer season and the trail system is completely on public lands open to hunting. You’re probably well advised to stay off the trails this week, or if you do head out for a hike, be sure to wear blaze orange.
