Trail Update

Because of the recent mild temperatures, the trail surface has transitioned from snow to ice. Attempting to venture out on the trails is not recommended; the trail is extremely slippery. The chalet will be closed until we get skiable conditions.

Tuesday Trail Update

MECCA Trails are in marginal skiing condition. There are scattered snowy areas with patches of bare, thin, and icy spots. If you want to explore our trails, we recommend snowshoes. Think snow!

Weekend Trail Update

MECCA’s Candlelight Ski Snowshoe Hike event is tomorrow (Saturday evening). Come out for the family fun event. It’s free, we’ll be serving hot chocolate and cookies, there will be bonfires, and our 1 mile trail will be lit with hundreds of luminaries. With the thin snow base, you can hike the trails in your boot, or wear snowshoe, or ski. Dogs are welcome as well, if accompanied by well behaved owners.

Sunday Update

MECCA groomers were out today and groomed the 15k course. We could not set track, but the skate deck is in good condition. Enjoy the trail!

Monday Grooming Report

Mecca groomers were out on this beautiful day and leveled out the trail as best as possible. The skaters will have a smoother ride and track was set wherever possible. Conditions are fair to good with some leaf litter in a few areas.

WEEKEND UPDATE

The MECCA grooming team rolled and combed the entire system after receiving 4 to 5 inches of snow last night. We still need more snow in order to set the classic tracks. The base is soft but should set up with the predicted cold weather.

Mid-January Update

MECCA’s grooming team was out today. Trails are packed with a very thin base. Conditions remain not good. Fingers crossed for snow this weekend!

Fresh Snow Update

The Mercer area received approximately 3” of new snow overnight. The grooming team will be rolling the trails over the next couple of days. No tracks will be set, we still need more snow to make the trails skiable.

January Trail Update

The Mercer area has been receiving lake effect snow on and off throughout the day. As you can see in the mid-day photo, the snow is about to cover the grass, it’s a positive start! Trails that cross wetlands have refroze again after the warm up over Christmas. MECCA’s Winterfest Event featuring MECCA 30 K, Flowage 15K and the Claire d’Loon 5 K races is 17 days away, we are hopeful for a combination of lake effect snow and a couple of winter storms will bring sufficient snow to have the event.

Happy Holidays!

The wreath has been hung (thanks to Peggy and Bernie), the firewood is cut, the skis are waxed, the Chalet is warm, and the Gator is ready; however, the Mercer Area is still waiting for cold weather and snow. We will keep you posted.

Merry Christmas to all,
MECCA Trails ❄️
