Upcoming Event on January 25th

Winterfest Update
We regret to announce the cancellation of all live MECCA Winterfest events scheduled for Saturday, January 18. We pride ourselves on offering a well-supported, safe, and enjoyable race for everyone, but unfortunately, the snow conditions will not allow us to continue on January 18.
Virtual Winterfest events will still be available through February 15 and allow skiers to ski the courses on their own schedule and turn in their best time. Registration for Winterfest Virtual events is still available, and all registration fees support the MECCA trail system.
Trail Update
Trail conditions have deteriorated since the last post on January 2nd. The snow base has transformed into a snowy/icy surface; grooming has been placed on hold because of the very thin base. Conditions rate as poor and rock skies are recommended. Groomers indicated two to four inches of snow is needed to produce a skiable surface.
Grooming Update
Groomers were out mid-day and will finish this evening mixing old snow with two inches of new moisture starved lake effect snow. Overall the trail has 95 percent coverage however base is thin with some bare spots. No tracks set, skiing is fair.

Trails Are Open!
The roller coaster weather has left MECCA Trails with crusty frozen snow, scattered bare spots and icy sections. Trails are open; however, trail users should use caution because of the ice. We are still requesting visitors not to walk on the ski trails in the attempt to preserve the surface for the next round of grooming. Thanks for your cooperation.

Trail Update
Temporally Closed!
Recent warm temperatures coupled with light rain has deteriorated trail conditions at MECCA. Trails are very soft, water puddles are forming along with scattered icy spots. Any type of trail use at this time (skiing, snowshoeing or hiking) will cause deep imprints in the trail base resulting in future grooming efforts difficult. We are asking visitors to MECCA to refrain from using the trails until cold temperatures return. We will keep you updated daily, thanks.

Wednesday Grooming Update
Blue skies with temps in the 20s, great day of skiing at Mecca. Trails haven’t been groomed since the weekend but conditions were good. Coverage very good, some thin spots but easily avoidable. Skate lanes pretty level and firm, just enough loose snow for your kick. Tracks firm, no icing.

Sunday Grooming Update
Trails are 95% snow covered with some thin areas. Skate lanes are combed, mostly level; tracks are set with some thin area. Definitely early season conditions but very skiable and fast.
Skiers today reported conditions were fair to good.
Weekend Grooming Report
MECCA got 2-3” of snow on Thursday and grooming teams were out on Friday morning and afternoon. Tracks were set on 75% of the trails, with a shallow base there’s some debris in the tracks. The entire skate lane was combed, is clean, and a little soft.

Weekend Trail Update
Groomers were out yesterday and today leveling and combing the 21k trail system. Early season conditions are rated at fair plus. The skiing surface is firm and has well formed corduroy with 95% coverage. At this time, tracks have not been set because of the lack of snow depth. The Homestead Wetland has not completely froze resulting in some soft spots but is skiable. Groomers will attempt to groom this section early next week. Overall, the trail is very skiable, skiers will be surprised at the conditions. Snowshoe trails are open.
