Wednesday, 1-7-2026 Trail Report

Yesterday Mercer experienced daytime temperatures hovering around the freezing mark with some light drizzle in the afternoon resulting in icing of the trail surface.  The next couple of days the temperatures will continue to be mild during the day into the evening with a possibility of more rain on Thursday which limits any grooming of trails.   Currently skiing is very icy and difficult to navigate . . . . groomers plan to start breaking up the ice and re-set tracks and comb the skate lanes on Thursday night into Friday morning when below freezing temperatures return. However, this morning the Wolf Loop’s tracks were reset and the skate lane renovated for previously scheduled Fe University adult ski lessons.

Trail Report – Monday, 1/5/2026

The Mercer area received two inches of snow overnight.  This morning groomers mixed new snow with the existing base of 13″ this morning which created fast conditions.  Classical tracks are deep and firm; skate lanes are level and firm.  The three miles of snowshoe trails have been very popular with visitors enjoying the deep snow and varied terrain.

Sunday, 1/4/26 Trail Report

Another fantastic day of skiing and snowshoeing at MECCA.  Temperatures are moderating to the high teens, no wind, great glide, firm tracks and skate platform – excellent conditions.  Solo groomer went out this morning to freshen the skate lanes.

Saturday, 1-3-2026 Trail Report

MECCA Trails continue to enjoy excellent conditions.  Cold temp at night with light, lake effect snow currently falling during the day equals a great skiing experience.  Groomers were out this morning freshening the skate lanes.  Classical tracks are firm and skate lanes have a flat skiing platform.

January 2nd Trail Report

Trails are in great shape. Groomers are out this morning re-setting track and renovating/combing the skate lanes on the system’s 21 kilometers.  With temperatures dropping into the single digits at night pole plants and skate lanes are firm.  Conditions are excellent.

MECCA Trails are in very good condition. The Mercer area has been receiving lake effect snow for the last few days which the groomers have been mixing with the recent 14” inch snowfall.  The pole plants and skate lanes are soft but will firm up with the cold weather.  Groomers are out this morning combing the skate lanes. The Bluebird Causeway is down to one lane because of drifting but is passable.

Tuesday, 12-30-2025 Trail Report

Groomers set track and combed Wolf, Moose, Homestead, Spruce Hills and Osprey Trails this morning.  Skiing platform is firming up and with cold night temps, day skiing will be near perfect.  Bluebird Trail is open over the flowage.  Tomorrow groomers will set track and comb the skate lanes on Otter, Voss Lake and Birch.  Very good conditions await!

Snowshoe trails look like a snow globe.

Monday’s Trail Report

The Mercer area received approximately 14” inches of wind driven snow from Sunday into today. Groomers had their hands full rolling (packing) trails last night into today.  Tomorrow AM groomers will work on Wolf, Moose, Homestead and Osprey Trails setting track and combing skate lanes.  Heavy drifting has hindered grooming over the flowage causeway which provides access to the western loops of Otter, Voss Lk and Birch.  These areas will receive further grooming on Wednesday.  The skiing surface will remain soft for the next few days.

Saturday, 12-27-25 Trail Report

Groomers were able to level and comb with temps moderating around 32 degrees today prepping for the anticipated winter storm.  Skiing before the storm hits should be very enjoyable . Blizzard conditions are predicted to move into the Mercer area tomorrow afternoon.  Tentatively, groomers will be rolling during the storm to keep ahead of the heavy snows and set track on Monday afternoon along with combing the skate lanes.  Bring it on!

Trail Conditions on Christmas Eve__12-24-2025

Trail system’s skate lanes were renovated this morning.  The grooming effort did further leveling of the platform and produced a nice, combed surface.  The tracks were left in place and are firm and not icy.  The trail surface still has areas of tree litter from past tree removal and windy conditions.  Overall, the system is in good condition.  Merry Christmas to all!
