Trail Report for Wednesday, 1/28/2026

Groomers were out yesterday renovating and combing the 21 Ks of skate lanes.  Classical tracks were left in place.  The Bluebird Causeway over the flowage was heavily drifted.  Groomers were able to open up the trail however additional leveling work will be required to obtain a flat skiing platform – it’s not pretty but skiable.  Overall skiing conditions are very good.  Prior to the weekend, the entire system will be leveled, new tracks set along with combing in fresh corduroy on the skate lanes.

Trail Report for Friday, 1-23-2026

Because of the extremely frigid temperatures over the next 24 to 36 hours grooming operations will be very limited.  Trails are in very good condition with the classical tracks in place and firm.  The skate lanes have about 2 inches of loose lake effect snow on the surface.  Tentatively, groomers will be out on Sunday.

Trail Report for Monday, 1-19-2026

MECCA groomers were out midday today resetting track and renovating and combing skate lanes.  Both the classical tracks and the skate lane’s corduroy are setting up nicely.  Most likely groomers will take Wednesday off because of the firm skiing platform and limited number of skiers venturing out because of the frigid temperatures.  Conditions are very good to excellent.

Trail Report for Sunday, January 18, 2026

The 15K race course skate lanes were renovated and combed producing firm corduroy.  The classical tracks were left in place; a dusting of lake effect snow lightly sprinkled into the tracks.  Ski conditions are very good to excellent.

Trail Report for Friday, 1-16-2026

Early morning lake effect snow continued until mid afternoon resulting in an additional seven inches of light fluffy snow.  Groomers were out all day rolling and packing the new snow in advance of the Winterfest ski races on Saturday morning.  Later tonight the race courses will receive their final groom.  Course conditions should be near perfect on Saturday however because of the new snow pole plants and skate lanes will be a bit soft.
Ski race registration is open until Saturday morning til 9 am.  The races are geared towards the beginner skier to the more advanced.  Additionally, there are three miles of snowshoe trails to be explored.
MECCA Ski Trails will be open to the general public later on Saturday afternoon after the ski races.

Skiers can register for the MECCA 30K, Skiathlon 20K, Flowage 15K and Claire d’ Loon 5K upto 9 am on Saturday.  Course conditions will be near perfect. Refreshments, snacks and a light lunch will be provided to participants in the ski club’s new heated equipment building.  Come on out!

Trail Report for 1/14/2026

The grooming team is out this morning renovating the entire trail system while breaking up the crust created by recent freeze/thaw conditions.  In addition, the process will mix in the light snow from last night.  This will leave the trails firm, but not icy.   All trails are open for skiing but at this time there are no plans to reset the classical tracks until just prior to the Winterfest Race on Saturday 1/17/26.  The snowshoe trails are in very good condition while firm with a cover of fresh snow.
